The Newaygo County Fire Chiefs Association is comprised of representatives from the 10 Fire Departments serving Newaygo County in addition to representatives from the Newaygo County Central Dispatch, Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Newaygo County Emergency Services Department, US National Forest Service, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Life EMS, Newaygo County Medical Control Authority, and any other agency that the membership deem appropriate. The purpose of the association is to create and maintain between fire departments, public safety departments, and fire districts through better understanding and cooperation. In addition, the association has an established training committee to manage and administer State Fireworks Funding for countywide training. Â

Newaygo County is served by twelve volunteer Fire Departments. Capabilities among departments are similar in provision of fire suppression and technical rescue capabilities. Due to limited manpower and equipment, all departments have an existing mutual aid system which is regularly utilized.
