Dog of the Month: Grimace

  • Breed: Husky/Pitball mix
  • Age: 1 year old
  • Sex: Male

Grimace came to the shelter as a stray, he is a very sweet boy.  Grimace got his name because he smiles all of the time.  He knows basic commands and has been getting better with his confidence since being here in the shelter.  Grimace does have a prey drive so he will need to go to a home with no small animals or cats.  He gets along well with other dogs but we always recommend a meet and greet with any resident dogs in your home.  Come meet him today!

The Newaygo County Animal Shelter (NCAS) provides care and housing for animals brought in as strays or surrenders from around the county.  We do our best to get animals back to their owners, adopted out as family pets to new homes or transferred to rescues for rehoming anywhere in Michigan or beyond. Unfortunately, due to our limited space and budget, we are occasionally forced to euthanize animals if we cannot find other avenues for them.

NCAS has a constant need for donations and volunteers.  Please check out the “Want to Help?” page to the right or stop in during our business hours to find out how you can help.

How to Adopt a Pet

The dog adoption fee is $90.00. The dog is spayed/neutered, has its Dhlpp, dewormed, given a heartworm test, a rabies vaccine, and a Newaygo County Dog License. The cat adoption fee is $65 and the cat is spayed/neutered, dewormed, and tested as negative for FeLV/FIV. By law, all animals adopted from an animal shelter must be spayed or neutered. We are required by state law to collect a spay/neuter fee. An adoption agreement must be completed at the time of adoption.
