Welcome to Newaygo County Parks! The Newaygo County Parks System includes a Marina and five County Parks with day use and modern campground facilities. To enhance your outdoor experience, we are surrounded by the World Class Muskegon River, North Country National Scenic Trail, 4,000-acre Hardy Pond, and the 538,000-acre Manistee National Forest. Our newest addition, currently under construction, is the 40+-mile natural surface trail around Hardy Pond known as Michigan’s Dragon at Hardy Dam.
Newaygo County is known for its world-class natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities. Most notable is its world-class fishing, hundreds of miles of trails, thousands of acres of public lands, and some wonderful small towns to explore. Winter 2023 Updates
Our campgrounds are closed for the season and will reopen on April 28th, 2023, at 9 AM. 2023 camping reservation will begin online at 10 AM on January 1st, 2023. Over-the-phone camping reservations will begin at 8 AM on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023.Â
Our website has been updated with our 2023 camping season rates and dates. If you are interested in a 2023 seasonal campsite, please contact Park Headquarters at 231.689.7340 to be added to the waiting list (excluding Sandy Beach). We do have some seasonal campsites still available at White Cloud County Park. Â
When you are in our Parks next season, you may see several projects taking place. The Parks Commission is completing several improvement projects in our Parks this season; These improvements are funded by our Park Customers who book reservations and purchase vehicle passes. Thank you all for making these projects possible in 2023!

Hardy Pond Water Level Update
Hardy Pond visitors, please note that Consumer’s Energy started lowering Hardy Pond on November 1st, 2022, and keeping the water levels low until Friday, May 26th, 2023. Therefore, boat ramps at Sandy Beach County Park and Hardy Dam County Marina may not be available until May 26th.
Also, Consumer’s Energy has stated water levels will not start lowering until November 1, 2023. Moving forward, water levels will follow this cycle for 2024 as well.
