The Newaygo County Parks is seeking individuals to serve as volunteer campground hosts.
Given the varied size, structure, and staffing needs of our parks, specific host tasks vary from park to park. However, all hosts are expected to provide excellent customer service to park visitors, support staff in day-to-day operations, and act as additional eyes and ears in the park.
Specific duties and responsibilities will vary to meet the current needs of the park and to match the skills and interests of the host and may include providing interpretive programming, fee collection and assisting after-hours check-ins, or maintenance & janitorial work.
In exchange for volunteer service, hosts are provided with a full-hookup RV site during the tenure of their host placement.
POSITION DETAIL
- Volunteer commitment for a period of up to 24 weeks
- A weekly commitment of 24 hours for single and 32 hours per week split by couples.
- Campground hosts are needed at Sandy Beach, Henning Park, White Cloud, and Diamond Lake County Campgrounds
- Will be required to maintain residency at the County Park – campsite, campsite utilities, and annual park vehicle pass will be provided
POSITION SUMMARY
- Under the supervision of the Park Manager and Parks Director, performs routine maintenance and developmental tasks within a particular park site. Duties may result in exposure to inclement weather. The typical workweek includes two weekday and two weekend shifts.
- Campground Hosts may apply as an individual or couple.
REQUIREMENTS
- 18 years or older
- Previous customer service and custodial experience or experience in a related field is preferred
- Must have a valid Drivers’ license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
- Good character with no history of serious criminal activity
- All offers of placement are contingent upon passing a background check and drug screening which includes marijuana.
