It also imposes powers and duties of certain state, county, city and township regulations.  Animal Control enforces state laws in Newaygo County for the public safety and well being of its residents, promotes public awareness of the need to license and vaccinate animals for and against rabies and other communicable diseases.

The Office of Animal Control serves an area of 864 square miles. The staff consists of two full time officers and a part time shelter attendant. A variety of duties are performed by animal control staff.  Cleaning of the shelter, care of the animals, picking up animals, preparing cases for court and investigating animal cruelty are just some of the day to day duties that are performed by the officers.

The Newaygo County Animal Control Department hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm

The Newaygo County Animal Shelter is open Monday – Friday from 11am to 1pm.
