Citizen Appointments to Board or Commissions
- Persons interested in serving on county boards or commissions may apply for appointment by submitting an application to the Newaygo County Clerk.
- Positions are published for available openings in the Times Indicator.
- Interviews are held during Board of Commission meetings, and are scheduled by the Administration Department.
- Appointments are made at a subsequent Board of Commission meeting.
- Applications are kept on file for a 1-year period.
- Applications are accepted on an on-going basis for vacancies existing on boards and commissions. Depending on time frames, interviews may be scheduled for these vacancies at the time applications are received and when authorized by the Board of Commissioners. Please contact the Clerk’s Office for information regarding any current vacancies.

Veterans must be a resident of Newaygo County, have an honorable discharge and have been on active duty during World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Afghanistan War, the Iraq 2003 War, or Peace Time era. All applicants for the Veterans’ Affairs Committee must submit an Application/Recommendation form completed by a Newaygo County Veterans’ Service Organization. A copy of your DD214 is also required. If you are a member of a veterans’ organization of Newaygo County, please contact your Post Commander for an Application/Recommendation form. If you are not a member of a veterans’ organization please print and submit the below Veterans’ Affairs Committee application.
*Applicants for the Consumer Representative Position on the Area Agency on Aging Board must be 60 years of age or older and a resident of Newaygo County to apply for this position. An appointment will be made for a partial one-year term commencing upon appointment.
