Welcome to Newaygo County Parks! The Newaygo County Parks System includes a Marina and five County Parks with day use and modern campground facilities. To enhance your outdoor experience, we are surrounded by the World Class Muskegon River, North Country National Scenic Trail, 4,000-acre Hardy Pond, and the 538,000-acre Manistee National Forest. Our newest addition, recently opened, is the 45-mile natural surface trail around Hardy Pond known as Michigan’s Dragon at Hardy Dam.

Newaygo County is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide variety of activities to suit every interest. From world-class fishing to hiking on hundreds of miles of trails, exploring thousands of acres of public lands, and discovering the charm of our small towns, there’s something for everyone. 2025/2026 Updates

Our campgrounds close for the season on Sunday, October 12th, 2025, at 3 pm and reopen on Friday, May 1st, 2026 at 9 a.m. 2026. Camping reservations open on January 5th, 2026, at 9 a.m.  If you are interested in a 2026 seasonal campsite, please call our main office at (231) 689-7340.   

We will update our rates and dates for 2027 after our campgrounds close for the 2026 season.  Have a great Fall and Winter!

Hardy Pond Water Level Update

Consumer’s Energy has stated water levels will start lowering on November 1 with water levels returning to normal by the Friday before Memorial Day the next year.  Moving forward, water levels will follow this cycle for the foreseeable future.  Therefore, boat ramps and docks will not be open until the Friday before Memorial Day at Hardy Dam County Marina and Sandy Beach County Park.
